One Book A Month
Now, I know what you’re thinking: Rachel, I read WAAYY more than one book a month (and so do I, obviously!), but this project is different. Instead of staying in our favorite sections of the library, content to read the same style of story over and over again, what we should be doing is expanding and growing our tastes. And so, this year, I am resolving to read at least one book in a different genre every month. Some I will be excited for, and others…I may dread. But they will be read, and processed, and reviewed and hopefully, I’ll grow or something! (PS the kids are doing this challenge too, they just don’t know it yet….) Don’t forget to comment on this post, OR tag us (here or on social media) when you complete a book! Use #bwmbookamonth to let us know your progress!
Feminist Baby by Loryn Brantz
Feminist Baby can do so many things! She can dance, choose what to wear, and not wear (and doesn’t care at all what you have to say about it!) What other awesome qualities does Feminist Baby have? Click Below to find out!

Making a Library Book Bag!
2018 is a monumental year for Guppy! This past June she finished 3rd grade at her elementary school, and will be starting 4th at the middle school in september. When we were doing our summer “purge” of clothing, to get ready for school shopping, we came across her old elementary school t-shirt, and she was torn on what to do with it. She knew she wasn’t going to wear it anymore, but was still pretty hesitant to give it away, so we came up with making this bag as a compromise! It was an easy project for her to do, and now she has a bag to carry her books to and from the library (and, let’s face it, a bunch of other junk is going to go in it, too!)
The Rory Gilmore Book Challenge
My Mama, Guppy, and I are HUGE Gilmore Girls fans. Growing up, I really loved how into reading Rory was, because I was a pretty big book nerd myself, and it was nice to have a nerdy girl with a single mom to look up to. So naturally, when I found this list, I was all ears. This is more of a work in progress, and will be updated as I go along, but if you’d like, you can take the challenge with me! I’m starting by crossing off all of the books I’ve read through my time (even if it was in High School).

Review: Jameon’s Closet: Shauna Havlina M.S., LMFT; Leanne Richter M.A. LMFT
Feelings are a big part of growing up, and sometimes it can be hard for our kids to unpack those feelings into productive conversation. Jameon’s Closet by Shauna Havlina M.S., LMFT and Leanne Richter M.A. LMFT shows us a solid metaphor, and a great way to help our kids deal with their big feelings!

Book Craft: Page Magnets
While we enjoy relaxing days and cuddly mornings, my family is more of a get up and do something type of crowd. This craft is perfect for those “move a lot” days because it’s quick, easy, and useful! Feel free to be creative if you don’t want to destroy a book for the sake of art! Use a yard sale or dollar store find, print some images off the computer, or do what I did and get weird! After Valentine’s Day, I bought a few boxes of valentines in all different themes, just in case we wanted to use the stickers, or cards for craft time. That sure came in handy today! Instead of destroying our only copy of Cat in the Hat, I used one of the Valentine’s Day cards, and a couple of the stickers to achieve the same effect!
(This post contains affiliate links, but the journey is the most important part, so feel free to substitute what works best for you!)
